SlickVPN is based in the USA (No Logs + DMCA notices) that does offer complete VPN access (PPTP + L2TP + OpenVPN) in 41 countries at a very reasonable price ($55/year).
We were interested by the advantageous price combined with a high number of countries (120 cities in 41 countries).
How do you start SlickVPN ?
SlickVPN has a monthy rate at $7, quarterly at $19, half at $25 and annual at $55.
Payment methods include Bitcoin (must preregister at BitPay first), Paypal and bank cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover). We would obviously advise paying in Bitcoin since personal details are therefore reduced to a minimum. For the other methods your personal details are required (though they could of couse be false).User account
Just like everything else, the user account is clear and precise. It isn't hidden by information, FAQs, tabs, blogs and forums.
Their guides are simple and clear so you shouldn't have any trouble installing the integrate connection client.
We like the installation tutorial of OpenVPN with Synology DSM 5.0 UsageUsage
We tried OpenVPN installed as the default setting on the connection client.
Note several useful options like: Speed test - Automate IP address change - Route traffic through the VPN - DNS leak protection - Balancing
We would have liked to see a few more, like IP Guard or Proxy settings
The major flaw in the client is the difficulty of connecting to a particular server. The countries are all there, but to connect to a specific server (by town) you have to create a group and manually add your favourite servers.
I used SlickVPN, and was entirely satisfied with them. Their speeds are great, and the amount of connections in each of the many countries was more than sufficient.
Highly recommended for watching videos on platforms like Hulu and American Netflix.
