All loyal VPNs users know that Sweden means No Logs and freedom of connection. Mullvad is a Swedish VPN company
Two years ago the centre of gravity wasn't in the USA, although they too applied No Logs in the absence of rules regarding the conservation of data, but in Sweden, around VPN services likes VPNTunnel.Se or Anonine
VPNTunnel.SE was the leader among Swedish VPNs:
No Logs on SE servers
Integrated connection client with IP Guard. Here they were forerunners, when many other VPNs used to only offer manual configuration with OpenVPN
OpenVPN with Blowfish encryption
Where are they now?
These three VPNs continue to function normally but are no longer Swedish.
So we tested Mullvad – their servers and their HQ are both based in Sweden.
Run by Amagicom AB, Mullavd offers:
Low prices: 5€/month
OpenVPN + PPTP
3 simultaneous connections
Bitcoin as payment
4 countries: Sweden, Holland, USA, Germany
Mullvad's biggest surprise becomes clear on registering. It is totally confidential and guarantees neutrality for the data of its users.
=> It works by assigning a unique number to each downloaded programme. The account number identifies your account. It is used to make payments and to enable the program to connect.

Registering needs three steps:
- 1 - Click on Create Account: Mullvad will give you an account number eg: 84569585 - keep a record of it. It will be your only login, no password, no email. We love the anonymity!
- 2 - We chose Bitcoin for payment. N.B: 10.0 mBTC = 0.010 BTC
- 3 - Then download the programme. Your length of subscription will be validated as soon as the payment goes through. For Bitcoin you only need one confirmation. For Paypal, Mullvad say it may take a little longer.
Programme: it may not be the most elegant but the essentials are all there: servers, IP Guard (blocks the internet in case the VPN connection fails), DNS Leak, dedicated port (for torrenting).
Speed, connection: We found the fastest server was in Holland. Testing a Usenet server, the speed was good for a classic broadband (8 mbit). For Sweden it was slower, but did not disconnect.
Usage: We mostly tried it for torrenting. With uTorrent the connection was great with a dedicated port. HighID with Emule.
The registration was the best and most surprising advantage for us. Otherwise Mulvad is a classic VPN. Simple, efficient, works well. Don't expect a user account full of information and options (unlike, say, AirVPN !)
The big difference between VPNTunnel.Com and Mullvad.Net is in the dynamic impression of the latter. VPNtunnel seems to be stagnating (no programme updates or added servers) and only paying attention to its current clients.
