Expressvpn is a VPN provider located in the USA: “We are a US company and this agreement is governed by US law.” Since 2009 they have an offer for an OpenVPN-PPTP-L2TP-SSTP (the latter tree activated on command through the support system) package at only $12.95 monthly.
1 - In addition to the information you provide through our order-form, we may store the following pieces of data: IP address, times when connected to our service, and the total amount of data transferred per day. We store this to be able to deliver the best possible network experience to you. We keep this information secure and private.
2- If we receive complaints regarding copyrighted materials such as music and movies being shared over our network, we may filter traffic to see which account is sending it, and then cancel that account.
3- We do not as a matter of ordinary practice store private information about individual user activities on our network, such as emails, chats, VOIP calls, websites visited, etc. However, should we receive a valid request from US law enforcement officials, we may be forced to comply, even with no warning to the user.
Get the same package at a cheaper price over 6 months ($59.95 – $17.75 saved) or a year ($99.95 – $55.45 saved). Sign up for a longer period for a significant reduction in price.
We really liked the connection program with ExpressVPN since it is above all very practical: you find the totality of available addresses, the login and password are automatically memorized and the connection speed is fast. But no IP Guard.
All the IPs, though shared and public, were accessible (except the British IPs that continued to show restrictions: too many active users, quota reached). Holland’s IPs worked perfectly. Switching between the 27 servers is unlimited, so it is easy to view streaming.
American expats can easily connect to Facebook without any restrictions (thanks to the range of IPs offered by ExpressVPN), a real advantage for resting in contact with friends and family. Then too it is not a problem to watch Hulu, or other geo-specific streaming programmes. Even watch JustinTV without having to sign in.
Obviously ExpressVPN can be installed on all devices that accept PPTP (router, iphone, ipad). Nevertheless, OpenVPN with a router is impossible at the moment despite my testing (files: ta.key) and no support from this VPN.
There are a few disadvantages:
Restriction: You can configure ExpressVPN on as many computers as you like, though only one of them can be connected to the VPN at a time. This is the server’s biggest flaw as simultaneous use of computers is impossible, which is a shame since VPN should be able to protect a home network and the family comuters connected to its wifi!!. While IPVanish allows you to connect two devices simultaneously to their VPN service.
For the moment, ExpressVPN is just a small structure, which is a boon as much as a fault.
